Name: Martine Cajucom
Studied journalism in my undergrad education in Long Beach, CA. Currently working for the web fashion marketing department for clothing brand American Apparel in downtown LA.
Describe your Personal Style, Inspiration and Fashion Philosophy.
Ultra girly with a laid-back edge. I also like to draw inspiration from decades (I'm really into the 80's and the 90's even!)
Inspirations: Erin Wasson, Jen Brill, MK Olsen and Kate Moss.
Can you tell us about your blog. How did you start? How long you've been blogging?
I had always kept journals even when I was really young, so blogging was a natural evolution in how I document my life. My first journals were from when I could first pick up a pen, so technically, I'd say I have been blogging my entire literate existence. haha.
You're named one of the best dressed and a style icon, How do you feel about that?
It was really awesome! Manila is one of the most fashionable cities filled with some of the most stylish people in Asia, so to be considered best dressed by that standard was a great feeling. Being a style icon was pretty cool too. Chictopia is a great way to draw inspiration from real people around the world.
When it comes to fashion and style, what inspires you the most?
Everything! Magazines, blogs, my own family and friends, my work environment. If you're looking for inspiration in your world, you will find it.
How many pairs of shoes do you have?
No clue. I did have a custom shoe closet built in, I will tell you that much.
Who are your favorite designers?
It's almost cliche to reference Louboutin nowadays, but I still find his shoes effortlessly chic and classic. I also love Balenciaga and Rodarte for they're more avante garde styles. YSL makes amazing heels!
What is the best fashion advice you ever received?
Wear what you feel good in.
If you're given the chance to splurge, Shoes or bags? Why?
Shoes -- Bags can get annoying because some people see them only as a way to acquire "status." Whatever happened to appreciation of beautiful design?
What is you biggest splurge or the most expensive item you ever bought?
YSL Tributes. That is a month's rent in Hollywood. Burned quite a big hole in my wallet.
What advice can you give when it comes to personal style/fashion?
Wear what you like. As simple as that.
