Fashion is only for the rich. Fashion is only for the famous. Fashion is a competition. NOT! Shattering common perceptions about fashion is the first thing one will encounter with the Fashion Designers Alliance (FaDAL). Established in April of 2009, FaDAL is lead by a vivacious team of nine officers and eight founding members who believe that there are many designers in the Philippines and that the selection should be broadened from merely three fashion affiliated groups.
Commissioned as the official designers of the GMA Artist Center for special events and just recently as the clothing partner of the prestigious Ms. Earth pageant held in Manila, FaDAL has recently taken on a new challenge by collaborating with the graduating batch of the Philippine School for Interior Design (PSID). Deriving inspiration from several provincial communities in line with the theme, “Kontempo Pilipino,” the interior designers accordingly interpreted their showcases in modern chic while the equally gifted designers of FaDAL interpreted fashion respectively by borrowing traditional colors, patterns and fabric associated with the specific province and twisting it with contemporary looks. From the Mangyan, Manobo, Ati-Atihan and Batak, the collaboration also eloquently sparks a sense of nationalism.
