Why fashion? Why not? :)
When it comes to fashion and style, what inspires you the most?
The idea of constant change.
Who are your favorite designers? Local and abroad
For international brands: Balenciaga and Zara For local brands: Protacio, Aries Lagat, Marlon Rivera, M Barretto and Joel Escober (mens prĂȘt-a-porter), Custodio(accessories) and Firma(accessories), and my own shoe and accessories designs.
How do you feel when you get your photo taken?
Honestly? I think its fun
Best fashion moment so far.
I think everyday is a fashion moment. So I cherish that.
What are your thoughts on the current state of fashion here in the Philippines? Menswear in particular.
It has a lot of potential especially with creative talents. And thanks to the fashion schools, high street brands, availability of international collections online, and the input of local designers during Philippine Fashion Week, people have all these style options in their hands. What’s left for them is how they can rework these given trends into their own wardrobes for them to create their personal styles. And I’ve actually seen people who have gotten it right. Which is great.
Where would you like to see it go?
From local ateliers to global brands.
What advice can you give when it comes to personal style/fashion?
I always believe in the phrase: "Never say never". It’s my mantra. As fashion moves at a quicker pace, what might be considered not in trend can come back in a few seasons. So it's better to be open to whatever, than eating my words. And besides, if you know me, there's probably no limit as to what i won't wear. What is exciting is that every recurring trend is reworked and it adds a new dimension on how its worn or styled. So its not really the same thing all over again.
I would like to quote Paolo Lorenzana's tweet for this. "Tonight has made me wonder: ano kaya pambahay ni Andre and Daryl Chang?"
Quite boring actually. Silk shorts and organic cotton tees.
